Anchor Bolt Capital

Which Came First? was asked to create the identity for Chicago-based hedge fund, Anchor Bolt Capital. An anchor bolt is used to tie a houses frame to its foundation and the client wanted to create an identity to symbolize that solidity and stability. To us, that called for a serif face--in this case, Baskerville--but we wanted to show the firm's "modernity" through the mark. We did that through the use of negative space and a reference to the head of a bolt.

Hamilton Wood Type and Printing Museum

Which Came First? partnered with the legendary Chicago letterpress printer, Bruno Rohner, to produce this poster to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the Hamilton Woodtype Museum, in Two Rivers, Wisconsin. The museum is the leading repository of traditional printing type and equipment in America.
